Incarcerated Nation Network (INC) is a 501 3 © nonprofit Human Rights project of the Citizens Emergency Response Network, Inc. (CERN)

We envision a world where human resilience is supported with Human Rights, we work to produce a world where torture is no longer a means for correction, for societies free of torture that protect the dignity of persons deprived of liberty, a community where race and economics are not a deciding factor within the justice system. INC works to making visible the hidden tortures, and work to replace it with restorative alternatives rooted in human dignity. We envision a world that is held to international standards and compliant to the United Nations OPCAT

The Network is compiled of Human Rights Defenders that serve as a hub for Abolitionist organizations to collectively operate community based projects that serve as solutions to incarceration. The Network is also a media Hub for all of the projects operated by the youth of all projects & organizations giving them a unified voice & platform in partnership with YouTube, Google & other partners.

Incarcerated Nation National Council (INC) is a Human Rights Collective of leaders who all operate organizations that serve those directly impacted, their families & community. Incarcerated Nation leaders make up International Councils that create collaborative projects that serve Youth as an alternative to Incarceration and provides resources & a safe space where mentoring can happen for members returning from incarceration as well as Justice Impacted Youth

  • .INC mission is combat mass incarceration through Trauma informed care practices that produce healed people who work to heal other people directly impacted.

  • INC works to educate the world around the conditions of confinement that millions of American’s live under and the collateral consequences of living post incarcerated in America. Through the belief in human resilience.

  • INC works to create a safe space for youth impacted by the justice system and advocates & organizes for a society in which all people Justice Impacted are treated equally, every person has the right to life, liberty and security of person, no one shall be held in slavery or servitude and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all forms. No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. We stand by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights & our legal framework.

  • INC provides services for members, returning citizens who are returning to working in the public health field. We believe that those directly impacted empowered to create change, then change themselves to better help others as peer navigators within the community

We envision a world that is held to international standards and compliant to the United Nations OPCAT INC Values Loyalty: we faithfully pursue the humanist proposal of our founders, Larry “Lukmon” White, Robert King (Angola3) Joseph Hayden (NYS Nontraditional Think Tank & the Campaign to End the New Jim Crow),Bill Johnson (NABPP) and the principles of Juan Mendez former UN Special Rapporteur on torture also principles from, Jean-Jacques Gautier. Integrity: we act with transparently with our partners to serve general interest and bring a consensus based structure to national and local work. Inclusion: we involve all stakeholders in our actions, without taking sides. This process allows for true inclusion and unified abolition work Objectivity: we build our actions with all the persons concerned, without discrimination.

Those directly impacted by the issues are always on the frontline of our work Innovation: we promote openness and reflection and we encourage new ideas to remain at the forefront of prevention, buy including the communities impacted we ensure that all harmed parties have a say in all actions. This process of fairness & inclusion always ensures we as a collective are always supporting new ideas. Perseverance: we tirelessly commit, with our partners, to build, in the long term, societies that respect the dignity of all persons deprived of liberty. Working Incorporated is vital to community building nationally. Holistic Strategic Litigation against Torture. Strategic litigation seeks to bring about a legal, political, or social impact beyond the case, by combining casework with other civil society techniques such as working with the media, advocacy, and public education, often delivered in partnership with other civil society groups. Whereas strategic litigation sometimes risks prioritizing the cause over the client, we seek always to ensure that the needs of our clients are at the forefront of the process. Skills Building and Mentoring.

Our collaborative partnerships often involve building the capacity of national NGOs to challenge torture and mentoring individual lawyers to represent survivors. Research and Publications. We undertake ground-breaking research on issues to draw attention to particular problems, to identify solutions, and to develop international standards. For decades now those 6 directly impacted have been the leading voice from experience led solutions to directly impacted reports abuse and human rights violations Advocacy. We advocate to local, national, regional, and international bodies to push for change in the punishment system, both as part of our strategic litigation and when developing new standards. Communities of Practice: INC engages groups of NGOs through networks such as the Anti Torture Initiative(ATI).
